Some words on "The Design District":
For Mike and my last few days in Miami, as a little vacation, we stayed at The Moore Hotel in the Design District. There the local fashion was more of anything goes. While I saw no Lululemon, I did see lots of enhancements–lip plumping, BBL, etc...
The fashion and art were inspiring, but the best experiences were making friends, of course. On our second venture to a restaurant across the street,Michael's Genuine, our waitress said that she had told her friends about us the prior evening. Staff at the Moore Hotel also became wonderful friends. They even gave us a very special card and gift (with incense and holder).
After a few days of window shopping –and hearing Mike's prompting/pleading– I finally bought some dresses, and a clutch bag :) Mike was thrilled. He had suspected, and I had planned, not to buy anything. Shopping isn't really my thing.
What I WAS excited for, more than anything, was a little more woo woo and off the beaten path. The Coral Castle was on my bucket list. I had read about it in books–like Christopher Dunn's "The Giza Power Plant."
Getting to and from was an hour Uber ride each way, which gave me plenty of time to talk with the drivers. The conversation on our way there was a mixture of Spanglish and Italian. Returning, the conversation was mostly in Spanish. We talked about how it was being Cuban and what's going on in Cuba today... also about Iguanas in Miami, and the drastic reduction in their population this past winter. Freezing temps can be deadly. This makes me think of the dinosaurs and their demise– and chickens!
