🏋️ Deadlift Challenge for Humanitarian AidÂ
Join in a unique fundraising effort to support my friends and students who are facing starvation in Gaza. As an athlete and advocate for humanitarian causes, I'm combining my passion for strength training with my desire to make a difference.
For every dollar donated, I will deadlift the equivalent weight in pounds. It's not just about lifting weights; it's about lifting spirits and providing much-needed aid to those in need.
How it works:
🏋️ Donate any amount you can spare. Every dollar counts and will directly contribute to providing essential resources to individuals struggling in Gaza.
🏋️ Watch as I take on the challenge of deadlifting weights in proportion to the donations received. Your support will fuel my determination as I lift for a cause greater than myself.
🏋️ Spread the word! Share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and networks to amplify our impact and reach our fundraising goal.
Your generosity will provide vital assistance to those experiencing hardship, demonstrating the power of unity and compassion. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of strength, solidarity, and support.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Anna

THUR JUNE 27, 2024   **** UPDATE! ****
Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your support and donations to help alleviate the suffering of some of my students, friends, and their families, in Gaza. Since my last update on this fundraiser, I feel there has been just one setback after the next for me--and distressing updates from Gaza.
For example, since the last update, one friend had a bomb blast right near him. His friend, who was right next to him, got hit with shells and died. When I spoke with him, he was in a state of shock. He had been wandering for three days and his family thought he was dead. Another student’s family’s next-door neighbor’s house (tent) was obliterated by a bomb. Many of my students' families are moved from tent camp to tent camp, from city to city, and struggle to get food, medicine, and fresh water. Wi-Fi and phone charging are significant challenges, and sometimes weeks go by without any communication, leaving me in constant worry.
Sending money had become impossible, too. The Palestinian banks have been closed. Sending money through Western Union no longer functions. Fortunately, one student’s brother in Egypt can now, once again, contact his family in Gaza. A friend trapped in North Gaza may have found a way to receive money through a friend. But while this might give me some hope, I've been waiting for funds from the fundraiser to arrive. It’s been frustrating, and scary, to speculate reasons for why they weren’t coming forth. Miraculously, a check for the full amount I expected from Facebook donations arrived yesterday. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ll soon be doing my Dead Lift Challenge and posting a video in celebration. And I will let you know more about the people you are helping.
I will continue working to find reliable ways to get money to the students, friends and their families, as promised. I know some are in desperate need of medication. I’m sure all are starving. But even supportive communication and prayers, they tell me, are keeping them hopeful and happy to be alive.
Also, I will (finally!) submit my little movie to the Sundance Film Festival. To even be accepted would be such a boon… so, please wish me luck! Also, I just got an email from Deseret News saying they will publish my most recent letter to the editor online and in their weekly print paper this weekend. This is very encouraging, too.
I couldn’t continue all these efforts at trying to promote peace and sympathy—and save lives and give some hope—without you. Thank you!!! Thank you so much, not only for the donations and support but, most importantly, for your friendship.
Thank you!
With love, and prayers for peace!
Anna
